Laurence Cleyet-Merle
French illustrator Laurence Cleyet-Merle is a children’s book illustrator with 8 years of vibrant illustration work under her belt. Highly detailed and buzzing with colour and texture, Laurence’s style is rooted in the classical, but with a distinctly modern edge. Laurence lists Mabel Lucie Atwell, Alice Woodward, Arthur Rackham and “old botanical illustrations” as some of her influences, and is currently working on a nursery rhyme book with Norwegian publisher Children’s House. For Laurence, the ideal job would be to illustrate a book of her own stories, or work alongside an author on a book. She would love to work in textile design too.
