Faces Of Evil

Ben Tallon has completed one of his ultimate jobs! Commissioned by WWE Magazine in the US, Ben has created a set design for a feature called 'Faces Of Evil.' A Creative Director whom Ben has known for a while spotted some banners Ben had created as Art Director of a feature film shot in Manchester, and so wanted a similar set of backdrops to use in a photo shoot. Ben says "They're all original artwork....(it was a) bit of a dream job for me this one since I'm a lifelong fan of pro wrestling". In these images we see AJ Lee, Daniel Bryan, Jack Swagger and Kane.

Weston Super Mural

Andy Council was recently commissioned by North Somerset Council to produce a large scale mural in the centre of Weston-Super-Mare.
Local school children helped Andy come up with the design by choosing which animals best represent the seaside town.  A Dragon was chosen as it's the local Council's logo, a Donkey; as they give rides on the beach and a Seagull; as they live around the town.  The animals are made up of landmarks from the town and seaside items such as sticks of rock and ice cream cones.

Clock Design for Mr. Jones

Hannah Davies has created a magnificent artwork for the dial of her Mr. Jones clock. To celebrate London Design Week 2012 Mr. Jones Watches has collaborated with four of their favourite illustrators and a photographer to create a bespoke series of Cyclops clocks. The very unique time pieces are being auctioned in aid of the charity Kids Company.

The client says " We are thrilled with the results and each unique clock is being auctioned on ebay. All the money raised will be donated to Kids Company so please bid generously to support this great charity and be the lucky owner of a completely unique clock. The auction ends September 26th so get bidding to be in with a chance to win!"

Hannah says of the commission "My inspiration was retro 60's shapes and psychedelic colours. I wanted to bring vibrant, detailed decoration into peoples lives."

Lets hope they raise lots of cash for a great cause.

More about the project.

Dan's Dog - A True Story

Click to watch the animation

A story designed to make you smile; Dan's Dog is a funny animation from Bill Greenhead. The amazing thing, is that it's entirely true! Bill says "... There's lots of tricks having animation interacting with live action in this piece. Stop motion photography and a very funny true story tying it all together. It's shot looking like the live action work I do for Bite on a whiteboard. But unlike that work, which I draw on an actual whiteboard, I create this in Photoshop and ship into After Effects."

Paper Sculpture, naturally!

Gail Armstrong's fantastic man-in-a-boat has won a place at the Images 36 Best of British Illustration exhibition at Somerset House this October. And as one of the activities planned to accompany the exhibition, Gail will be doing a workshop where visitors can manipulate some paper themselves under Gail's experienced tuition.

"Paper sculpture is the art of cutting, gluing, folding, embossing and manipulating paper to create three dimensional or relief images. This workshop aims to cover these basic techniques to enable participants to create their own individual paper sculptures.

We will work on a theme of nature, looking at how plants and insects might be reinterpreted in paper. Whilst some reference and white paper will be supplied, I would encourage those attending to bring their own pictures of insects or plants to inspire them. If people wish to bring their own papers to work with (wallpaper samples, coloured paper, wrapping paper, etc) pieces sized between A4 and A3 are generally adequate"

The workshop will take place at Somerset House at 6pm on 18th October, for more information go to the Somerset House website.
