Murdoch to launch UK web paywall in June

I don't know for sure how this will affect us all, but it will one way or another...my early thoughts are if there are more revenues flowing into editorial content, more resources should be available to employ freelance suppliers like writers, photographers and illustrators. Harry Lyon-Smith

The News Corp chairman’s move to throw a veil over the sites’ content, which will happen before the World Cup but after the general election, will be followed shortly afterwards by the removal of Times stories from Google News search results.

The Times is the first generalist newspaper in the UK to announce charges for access to its online content.
Mr Murdoch’s experiment will be closely watched by other news proprietors, many of whom are considering similar measures in the wake of falling advertising demand and lower circulations as readers move online.
