Ede's Arch Card

Chris Ede creates this dynamic, hero inspired Arch Card for the NFL and McDonalds. He says “the illustration depicts a running ‘back’ flying and catching a ball in mid-air, whilst ripping through a layer on a card. The Arch Card is a replica of trading cards collected in the comic world".

Boom Artwork aka Eric Van Den Boom recently participated in a music and arts festival entitled Solar Weekend 2013. Working alongside Maarten Berkers, Eric created an installation consisting of an interactive mural. Eric says "This year's theme was 'experiment'......(the installation) allowed festival visitors to create their own fantastical creatures by rotating three circular boards with different body parts illustrated on them. Visitors could place their heads through the holes in the mural, making a perfect photo opportunity". Eric used his skills to complete the lettering on either side, whilst Maarten created the central illustration for this theatrical piece.

Haunted

Rohan Eason's fine style lends itself perfectly to the mysterious. And here we see his recent book jacket for Oxford University Press; William Hussey's 'Haunted' demonstrating Rohan's brilliance with this genre so well. A childrens book complete with ghosts and a derelict house, the book is out now.

Type Tasting

Ruth Rowland will be taking part in the Type Tasting Exhibition, run as part of the London Design Festival at the Victoria & Albert Museum. The exhibition and drop in workshops are ‘open to everyone with a love of letterforms’.

Ruth says “I submitted a piece of work for the exhibition, we had to choose a word that described London. I was drawn to the word 'expressive' as it reflects what I love most about London - its dynamic, ever-changing cultural scene. In addition, it's a term often used to describe the loose, gestural nature of much of my work. I like to experiment with mark making, tools can vary from the beautifully hand crafted ruling pen used here, to a piece of old stick from my mother's garden. Pens and brushes are the tools of my trade, I've been collecting them for years, I like the fact that each one has its own distinctive characteristics.”

Rusi Designs

Alyana Cazalet creates some striking drawings for RusiDesigns.

Commissioned to make promotional posters for their fashion stand at the 'Pure London 34 International Trade Show' last month, Alyana produced some engaging black line drawings for fashion posters. The illustrations also featured Rusi's colourful leather bags and accessories, bringing together both hand drawn and photographic elements.

Wear Some Beedie

Duncan Beedie's character designs have found their way onto some cool clothing from 'Mild West Heroes'. Looking quite fab, the T-shirts are 'original designs from the west country' and are made from organic cotton. 'Old Timer' and 'Metaller' can be purchased here.

NME Magazine has commissioned pen master Ben Tallon to illustrate an article called 'Turner's Heroes'. The special edition of the weekly magazine features the band 'Arctic Monkeys' and looks at the characters created in their songs written by Alex Turner. Ben supplied artwork for the tracks 'When The Sun Goes Down',  'Brianstorm' and 'Fluorescent Adolescent' and the feature coincides with the launch of the band's 5th studio album 'AM'.

Miss Led's Workshop

The Miss Led Workshop; Printspace August 2013

Ten lucky competition winners were treated to a workshop entitled 'How to create a mixed media portrait' run by the talented Miss Led last month. Hosted by the Printspace in Shoreditch, Miss Led shared her deep knowledge of live art, techniques and medium. She says of the event "...Was so cool after running workshops for years in so many different settings, to actually present a work based session on my own practice..."
