The Best Fashion Illustrators

Last weekend's edition of Smoda featured an interview with top fashion illustrator Montana Forbes.
She was asked to contribute to an article on 'The Best Fashion Illustrators' by Leticia García; a journalist for Smoda (a popular fashion magazine from the Spanish newspaper El País).
Talking of a subject she knows much about, Montana's interview was illustrated with three artworks, including this one - originally done for an upcoming accessories brand called SANTAL36.

Lucia the Shoe Illustrator

After the success of Jacqueline Bissett at the London Selfridges store, it was time for Lucia Emanuela Curzi  to become 'Shoe Illustrator' at stores in Manchester and Birmingham. Lucia says of her experience "... I was live painting at Selfridges in Manchester and painted about 10 shoes, 7 or 8 boxes (or maybe more, I was so busy that (I) couldn't count them!). From 11am to 4.30pm there were so many enthusiastic people that had been in a queue to have their shoes and boxes painted. A couple also asked to paint the soles of their Kurt Geiger' Wedding Shoes and in the previous week I painted a girl's shoe for the prom night."
This was certainly a fun experience very well suited to Lucia's spontaneous drawing style.

Reel Fashion Project

Lucia Emanuela Curzi works with Air Paris and Reel Shanghai to produce several exquisite illustrations for the Reel Fashion Show. Completed towards the end of last year, the advertising campaign is now live in the lavish department store in Shanghai. Lucia says "...a lot of high-luxury fashion brands were involved directly in the creative process featuring fashion illustrations from the Spring Summer 2013 collections; Alexander Mcqueen, Alexander Wang, Gucci, Marni, Moncler, Givenchy, Saint Laurent, Stella McCartney, Lanvin, Emilio Pucci, Sergio Rossi, Bobby Brown, Mac, Lancome, Clinique and Clarins." The work was also included in a fashion illustrated magazine/look book called "The Reel Spring Magazine' which is for clients inside the store and features 35 illustrations. Light boxes inside and outside the mall, life size cut-outs of the models and a maxi poster and invitation card, were also part of this major fashion event.

New Look for December

Appearing on the front of tote bags and for sale at the New Look UK stores is this stylish illustration from Montana Forbes. She says "I was approached to create an illustration for the New Look store's Bond street re-launch, on 1st December 2012 in London.... It was fantastic working with their Christmas season collection and being allowed such wide creative freedom."

Little Red Lies

Lucia Emanuela Curzi's latest venture is the launch of Little Red Lies, a personal collection of silk print scarves and illustrated t-shirts under her fashion brand Lu'. The garments are for sale in Not Just A Label, some boutiques in Italy, and now from the exclusive fashion shop Dia-boutique.

"Lucia's collection entitled "Little Red Lies" explores the secret world caught between the innocence of a girl's childhood and the onset of shallow aspects of the contemporary world."

The garments have also been featured in the latest issue of BALLAD OF magazine.
