Hunger

There was good news for Paul Holland recently when he was selected and then won 'HUNGER' Magazine's competition with this submission of Lisa-Marie Presley. The illustration competition has run for the last few publications for which there is a cash prize and the opportunity to illustrate from Rankin's celebrity photographs. Paul says "I will be in pretty good company as Von & Oriol Angrill Jorda have previously been selected winners and featured". Issue 4 which is just out, features Paul's commissioned illustrations of Derek Blasberg, Labrinth & Elle Macpherson.

Premiere Magazine Plan B

Paul Holland is the illustrator behind a regular column for France's Première Magazine. The article asks stars from the big screen 'What if you were not an actor/actress, plan B?' Here Megan Fox shows her love for the aquatics & marine biology, and James McAvoy who believes that he would undoubtedly be selling bread & pastries!

Mercury Inspirations

This year's Mercury Music Awards were the inspiration for some terrific portraits by Paul Holland.

Singer Amy Winehouse and band Bat For Lashes were two of Paul's personal favourites, chosen, he says, "as much for their looks as their music! But as these two lost out to The Klaxons, I'm now going to have to get the winners inked up ASAP!"

Holland vs France

Splashed all over France in the form of bus and metro ads, billboards and in-store promotions, are these fun illustrations by Paul Holland for the French DIY giant Castorama.

The illustrations are comedy caricatures of the actors who appear in the store's TV ads. For Paul the commission allowed him the freedom to work in style that was a little different to the style he is known for.

Never Trust a Hippy

Paul Holland is among the 100 artists, photographers and designers contributing these customized 50cm high plastic figurines (known as "Qees") for the children's charity Paris Tout P'tits.

Entitled "Never Trust a Hippy", Paul's creation kidnaps the ideas of "flower power"and "summer of love" in order to beg the question: "Where'd all the LOVE go?" The entire collection of figures is being auctioned at the Christie's auction house (France) this month.

Road Trip

Two striking new illustrations by Paul Holland feature in the French science magazine, La Recherche this month.
The pictures were created to illustrate an article on the curious case of Monsieur Alain Bastien, a man who, having injured his brain in a road accident, has somehow become insensitive to all feelings of pain and emotion. Paul's bright graphic style is perfect in bringing vision to this intriguing story.
