Our Scrapbook Live Event at The Griffin Gallery was to celebrate the launch of issue 7 in our notebook series. Senior Agent Victoria Pearce along with curator Montana Forbes planned the event to perfection, joyfully supported by 21 exhibiting illustrators, 5 of whom performed ‘live art’.
With a welcoming introduction from Computer Art's journalist Garrick Webster and a few words from Victoria, artists, clients and agents were left to mingle and enjoy the rare opportunity to chat face to face, surrounded by walls draped with creativity.
Sarah Beetson’s live portraits created a crowd whilst Jacqueline Bissett’s glamorous fashion drawings of figures in the gallery were breath-taking. Both Miss Led and Gail Armstrong showed their skills with much interest from the visitors to the gallery, and lettering artist Ruth Rowland demonstrated her spontaneous lettering skills.
The evening concluded after each illustrator was interviewed and had time to relax and enjoy sounds from DJ Dirty Freud. We were blessed with the company of clients including Sonja Burri, Rachel Escudier & Oliver Jamieson from Harrods Publishing, Rachel Clare from The Calm Zone, Stuart Crouch from Peacock Productions, Connie Edwards from KPM Music House, Heng Khoo; MD Association of Illustrators, Lucy Irvine and Joanne Moran from Shortlist Magazine, Simon Jago from BDA London, Emily Lamm from Walker Books, Zoe Lines, Ravi Sohanpal from Ted Baker, Corinne McManus from Atom Design, Hairdresser Neil Moodie, Caryn Franklin from Clothes Show Live, James Pritchard from EMI Music, Will Steele from Templar Publishing and Gustavo Kopit from RKCR/Y&R. All of whom left with a fantasic goody bag full of wonderful giveaways from our illustrators.
Victoria Pearce says of the event “It has been wonderful to bring together our illustrators, clients & agenting team in this personal way to enjoy a coming together of creativity, illustration & inspiration” We’d like to thank our sponsors The Griffin Gallery, Winsor & Newton, Liquitex, Conte a Paris, Cobra Beer, Manifest UK and everybody who came to the event.
