A London Story

The London Transport Museum have been using Anne Wilson's city inspired image to advertise the lead up to the Serco Prize for illustration 2014.
The theme for this year's competition is 'London Stories' with the winners announced mid February and the start of the exhibition based on the theme. Anne will also be running a workshop at the exhibition in the Transport Museum on the evening of the 14th February as part of the opening, which will include "a bar and DJ and storytelling for adults on board some of the heritage vehicles; a chance to illustrate your own London Story with short illustration workshops, and to strike a pose in a photo-booth with a choice of props". Bacon on the Shanghai Metro

Derek Bacon has two works displayed on the Shanghai Metro.
Now showing in 3m wide lightboxes, the images; eye-catching to all commuters are part of the 'Shanghai JCDecaux Cup Public Welfare Ads Design Competition 2013.' Derek's art was chosen for this 'well renowned public event in Shanghai' which had 4000 entries in 2012. Besides the prize money, the winning artworks of the competition are displayed on 'metro media' with JCDecaux providing over 200 lightboxes and digital panels.

Shannon Toth proudly holds a bottle of beer adorned with her 'Mascarilla' art!
The Collective Arts Brewery in Toronto, Ontario hold regular contests for artists to have their art on a beer label, with the belief of "raising the creative consciousness by linking art and artists with the sociability of beer. This collaboration extends from visual art to music and film." Shannon's striking image of the lady in the skull mask won the attention of the brewery, and now drinkers can enjoy her art whilst downing their beer!

Pentonville Road

John Walsom is happy to have this gorgeously moody watercolour accepted for the Sunday Times watercolour competition. "Pentonville Road" will go on exhibition at the Mall Galleries in September.

Greenhead's E Stings

Bill Greenhead enters the 2013 E Stings with Flamin' Nora.
Bill had immense fun with this animation, created for the popular competition run by E4. Apart from a few rules including no violence, the piece being exactly 10 seconds long and to incorporate the E4 logo, the competition is open to all those who love to see their work on the TV. The chosen favourites will be aired on E4 with the winner receiving a nice £5000. Good luck Bill! Watch Bill's entry.

Diversity Now!

This more curvaceous drawing by Nuno DaCosta has been created for 'All Walks Call for Diversity'. The fashion artist has been asked by Caryn Franklin and All Walks Beyond the Catwalk in conjunction with i-Dmagazine to be a judge for Diversity Now! - a national competition for fashion students; "...the chance to shout for your beliefs and be heard, to open eyes and make them see your vision of beauty, body shape and attitude in future fashion". With the entries all in, Nuno along with other judges such as William Tempest and Deborah Milner, will decide on the category winners and the overall winner to be announced at Graduate Fashion Week in June.

Hunger

There was good news for Paul Holland recently when he was selected and then won 'HUNGER' Magazine's competition with this submission of Lisa-Marie Presley. The illustration competition has run for the last few publications for which there is a cash prize and the opportunity to illustrate from Rankin's celebrity photographs. Paul says "I will be in pretty good company as Von & Oriol Angrill Jorda have previously been selected winners and featured". Issue 4 which is just out, features Paul's commissioned illustrations of Derek Blasberg, Labrinth & Elle Macpherson.

Miss Led at Images 36

Miss Led's painting for the LYNX angels campaign will be showing as part of Images 36 - Best of British Illustration 2012, at Somerset House. Starting on 3rd October the exhibition will stay at the venue til 28th and then tour England and Wales until mid 2013. Well done Miss Led!

Dinozoo

Bristol Zoo is currently home to a collection of life size animatronic dinosaurs. To coincide with this they asked Andy Council to produce this exclusive original illustration which can be won in their Dino Zoo competition. More info here.

Face In The Crowd

 

Anne Wilson’s entry for this year’s Serco Prize is an eye catching illustration. Face in The Crowd is a stunning piece of poster art on the theme 'Secret London'.

Anne, who won the award last year, saw her piece used as a poster on the Transport for London services aswell as receiving a cash sum.

The Serco Prize for Illustration is a competition organised by London Transport Museum, in partnership with the Association of Illustrators, the top 50 entries have been selected for this year’s exhibition, which will take place at the London Transport Museum opening on Tuesday 13th November and run until Monday 10th December 2012. The 3 winners will also be announced later in the year.

Olympia Illustration Competition Winner

Lucia Emanuela Curzi has won second prize in the Olympia Illustration Competition! The brief was to produce a poster design that marked their milestone anniversary while celebrating the venue’s rich culture and heritage, with the poster being featured in their commemorative 125th anniversary campaign. Lucia created her piece in her spare time earlier in the year, and only just missing out on the first prize place, the organisers called her to say they would be making a 'special' second prize place for her! Lucia was able to join the celebration at The Olympia Theatre where she has been photographed with her art.

Royal Academy Summer Exhibition Hopeful

Liam O'Farrell is excited about the possibility of a fourth piece of his art being selected for the very popular Royal Academy Summer Exhibition 2012.  Artists and Illustrators Magazine have featured him as a 'Summer Hopeful' in a recent article where Liam says "I've applied three times and I've got in three times, but that doesn't mean anything - your odds start at zero every time". March Flair Winner

Well done Robert Carter! He wins the Creativematch March Flair Competition for illustration with this image. "Drowning In Debt" is a digitally painted illustration for a German magazine called Manager, It's about the debt crisis and how to get rid of it ('Schulden' is the German for 'Debt')'.

Lynx Angels Makes Images 36

Miss Led aka Joanna Henly is over the moon with the news that her brilliant painting for the Lynx campaign has been selected to appear in the AOI's Images 36: the best of new British illustration publication. Even Angels Will Fall was a big job for Miss Led last year, and has won her a page in the advertising section. This news is icing on the cake for Miss Led. Well done!

Maybe I'm Amazed

Talented Shannon Toth recently entered a competition with this beautiful piece. The contest was to depict a work of art inspired by Paul McCartney's "Maybe I'm Amazed".  Shannon's piece is of Paul surrounded by Linda over several years with the red symbolising love.  Shannon says "Paul was done in shades of grey to make him visually stand out against the red.  I also included his green heart wedding ring from Linda." Though this image didn't win, it's a great example of Shannon's expertise.
