Bill Greenhead's latest whiteboard animation is a music video for Free Swim.
The group asked Bill to make a video for their latest rock track "Trans-Atlantic Tumnus", and of course Bill jumped at the opportunity. He says " The track gave me a chance to try out lots of new techniques in whiteboard art. I wanted to be able to place static objects and for them to spring into life. Lots of 3d animation with UFOs and robots. It's a fun track to animate." Watch the animation.

Dan's Dog - A True Story

Click to watch the animation

A story designed to make you smile; Dan's Dog is a funny animation from Bill Greenhead. The amazing thing, is that it's entirely true! Bill says "... There's lots of tricks having animation interacting with live action in this piece. Stop motion photography and a very funny true story tying it all together. It's shot looking like the live action work I do for Bite on a whiteboard. But unlike that work, which I draw on an actual whiteboard, I create this in Photoshop and ship into After Effects."

Bite

just sleeves
Bill Greenhead has successfully completed his eighth ad for Bite in Romania. No stranger to the overhead shooting, Bill drew directly onto a whiteboard with no guides to help! And with 3 days to work out what they were going to do for the final shoot, Bill helped with the storyboard and design of the ad. Commissioned by award winning McCann Erickson Romania and alongside StudioSet TV, the job has proved to be a fun one, in the spirit of Bill's entertaining drawings. Bill says "We used cardboard cut-outs for the first time to reveal other drawings, an idea I brought over from another shoot I did recently in London, to great effect. I just wish I hadn't thought of wearing the Christmas jumper. It got quite hot under the lights. Luckily I only had to wear the sleeves."  Watch it now.

Greenhead Illustrates Peter Kay Book

"The Book That's More Than Just A Book - Book" written by the comedian Peter Kay is out now, and illustrated by another genius of humour Bill Greenhead. Bill created 6 page artworks plus a childish drawing of Yoda. Five of the strip cartoons were done in a 'Grange Hill Style' and the sixth was in black and white. Bill says of the job "I had to draw Peter as a 11 year old boy, which was challenging. He was very supportive through the process and it was a joy to work with such a comedy genius. He said my work was very funny in an email....I'll never wash that email again!"

Bill Greenhead wins Nexus Award

Comic book hero Annual Report for Whittington Hospital NHS Trust wins the Nexus Award for the second year running! His brief was to illustrate the entire job as though it were an American superhero comic, he had to adapt his style considerably for the job swapping his cartoonist head for more of a ‘Marvel Graphic Artist’ head. The Report got masses of local interest and Whittington entered it for the Nexus Annual Report and Primary Care Prospectus Awards. A winner! John Stewart at Causeway Communications commissioned the art and was a dream to work with.

Bill Greenhead goes 30's

A master of cartoon and humour Bill Greenhead has another stylistic feather to add to his cap. Commissioned by Simon Robinson at John Brown Citrus Bill has just finished a new illustration for Orange magazine in the style of the great Ralph Barton from the 30's. The scene was set in a grand dinner party featuring some contemporary film stars of today…have a look and see who you can spot?! A different style from Bills norm he kept the line work very linear with blasts of flat tone and sparse use of airbrush. A more sophisticated style emerges!

Greenhead and Mook

Bill Greenhead has just finished working with Mook to produce an animation for the Sunday Times. His persistently humourous style used effectively in this ad for an audiobook giveaway was a challenge for Bill, he had to balance using bitmap graphics in Flash with the filesize and the animation speed. Wow!
