Derek Bacon has two works displayed on the Shanghai Metro.
Now showing in 3m wide lightboxes, the images; eye-catching to all commuters are part of the 'Shanghai JCDecaux Cup Public Welfare Ads Design Competition 2013.' Derek's art was chosen for this 'well renowned public event in Shanghai' which had 4000 entries in 2012. Besides the prize money, the winning artworks of the competition are displayed on 'metro media' with JCDecaux providing over 200 lightboxes and digital panels.

Mace Bauer Mysteries

Gail Armstrong creates two book cover illustrations for Llewellyn Worldwide.

'Mama Gets Trashed' and 'Mama Does Time' by Deborah Sharp are part of the Mace Bauer Mystery series; stories based in Florida involving biologist Mace and his mother who stumble upon murder victims and then feel compelled to investigate. The brief was to make artwork that reflected the humour in the books whilst feeling 'light, fun and colourful' to evoke the Florida warmth. Gail says "... I worked with a palette that seemed to reflect Florida colours and created the front cover image that illustrates a key event in each of the books. The type and background repeat pattern work to tie the books together visually. There is also a smaller, related image for use on the spine and back of each of the books."

Winter Wonderland

Emma Rios is commissioned to create her own winter wonderland backdrops for a range of fragrances.
Now showing in the current issue of Tatler, Emma uses paper silhouette's to capture these evocative scenes which were then photographed by Ted Humble Smith.

The Mistletoe Bride

Rohan Eason illustrates 'The Mistletoe Bride' by Kate Mosse.

Published by Orion, Rohan recently spent a day signing books with the author; a haunting book which includes fourteen pieces of Rohan's art. He says "the book does look beautiful", which is no surprise, with the fine examples of his images we see here. 'The Mistletoe Bride and Other Haunting Tales' is out now.

Liam O'Farrell at the Affordable Art Fair

From tomorrow, watercolour artist Liam O'Farrell will be exhibiting at The Affordable Art Fair in Battersea.
Obsessed with 'day to day' stuff and the architecture surrounding us, Liam's paintings effervesce with recognisable characters, places and buildings. The exhibition continues until 27th October.  More information here.

Technomarine Quest

The Golden Skull

Montana Forbes's work for Technomarine Watches culminated in an interactive online campaign. Featured in the magazine section of the website, Montana was asked to create the main character of the story (Paul) and his friends in various scenarios following the quest to find the "Golden Skull". She says "...the backdrop scene was St. Tropez sunset parties, luxury yachts and a hidden island villa." The illustrated film ran for 2 months on their website with the winner receiving $30,000.00.

This inviting book cover bears the art of Anthony J Foti. His illustration for the cover of 'Deadly Patterns' by Melissa Bourbon has just been released by Penguin with some great reviews, leading to more work for Anthony on the series.

Affordable Art Fair

Liam O'Farrell is exhibiting a number of artworks at this year’s Affordable Art Fair in Battersea, London. "The Affordable Art Fair is returning to London this Autumn, with a feast of contemporary art from £40 – £4,000. With Battersea Park with over 100 galleries, finding the perfect artwork has never been simpler or more fun'.

Nicest Neighbours

The talented Claire Rollet has been working with Tesco to create this colourful editorial illustration. The popular supermarket chain has launched a competition in their magazine to vote for the UK's Friendliest Street, and with this month being the decision time anyone can vote for their favourite neighbourhood. Claire says "The illustration was to portray a really friendly community bustling with life and "joie de vivre"."
