A London Story

The London Transport Museum have been using Anne Wilson's city inspired image to advertise the lead up to the Serco Prize for illustration 2014.
The theme for this year's competition is 'London Stories' with the winners announced mid February and the start of the exhibition based on the theme. Anne will also be running a workshop at the exhibition in the Transport Museum on the evening of the 14th February as part of the opening, which will include "a bar and DJ and storytelling for adults on board some of the heritage vehicles; a chance to illustrate your own London Story with short illustration workshops, and to strike a pose in a photo-booth with a choice of props". Art In The Village

Last weekend saw Shannon Toth exhibiting in a local art event. The festival, in the town of Jordan was one of twelve events being held in Canada and organised by the government to help promote and celebrate "the Culture Capital".  Involving other local artists as well as local food and wine, Shannon put on a display of some fine pieces aswell as doing some live painting.  She says "The event was fun and I have some silly photos of my display!"

Gigi Istanbul

Earlier this year Miminne completed a project for a large restaurant group in Turkey. Istanbul Doors have opened GIGI, and commissioned Miminne to produce six large images of female heads. She says "The restaurant interior was themed around the famous Turkish story of the nightingale and the rose. Since Istanbul in itself is a place where the East meets the West, I tried to draw women with different cultural backgrounds, trying to differentiate with accessories, make-up, hair styles and physical features. The colours are predominantly in the shades of different reds and pinks, to match to the designated area." The artworks are now on display, reproduced to fit the scale of the space, each measuring approximately 1.6m x 2.35m. Miminne also says "If you happen to be in Istanbul, why not enjoy a drink or two sitting in front of my artwork!"

Working with Wunderman in Germany for Lufthansa, several of our artists have contributed to an amazing mural exhibited in Berlin. Chris Ede, Ben Tallon and Miss Led along with others illustrated the "Zukunft-Berlin-campaign", "Sieh doch, was Du willst". Each piece from the individual artist has been combined to create a massive mural in a giant public space in Berlin.

Trees For London Mural

Miss Led has opened up her creative process somewhat recently. Working with 'Noise of Art' for 'Trees for London' at their annual event in Battersea Park, she created a 10m interactive mural focusing on children's participation. Miss Led worked in her studio to draw the lines on this mammoth canvas, which focuses on cultural diversity, then the mural was laid like a huge colouring book on the grass, for others to decorate and have fun with. Delta Airways

Ruth Rowland's classy letters cover the pages of Delta Airways Sky Magazine. She was asked  to produce some hand lettered titles and a map of Paris for their stylish article about contemporary French culture. Ruth says: "This casual, edgy style of lettering was developed using a marker pen and runs throughout the article as subheadings, highlighting the work and opinions of an eclectic mix of influential French celebrities. The map of Paris has a deliberately simple, casual style, reflecting it's subject - the bohemian Left Bank and the new areas now populated by artistes and academics in the working-class districts of the city's East End."

Baetulona Exhibition

Eric Van Den Boom  is currently participating in the Baetulona Exhibition and travelled over to Barcalona/Badalona to be at the opening. The project depicts the 100 most important moments in the history of the Spanish city of Badalona with images from 100 designers/studios from all over the world who have each produced a 1m x 1.5m image. The result is a stunning 100-metre-long timeline on canvas. Eric's piece is about actors Margarita Xirgú and Enric Borrás.  More info: www.baetulona.cat or blog.baetulona.cat
