Open for Business

Gail Armstrong has finished a super commission from Bader Rutter recently.
Asked to create two linking images for the cover story of Impact Magazine, Gail's creations were to illustrate the implications of moving to more open-plan office environments for an article entitled Open for Business. Gail says "The first image is of a closed box, the sides of which are reminiscent of the classic, textured partition walls often used to divide up and enclose workstations in offices. The word OPEN is cut into one side of the box. In the second image the word becomes freestanding, the walls fall away and the office workers are seen interacting in a more pleasant and free environment". Need a Vacation?

Stuart Holmes's recent editorial for O2 magazine highlights the need and ability of small business owners to take vacation time. He says "The illustration depicts a retail high street with various business owners closing up off on their holidays, whilst still maintaining a business presence." Using his graphic style, the illustration cleverly contrasts a vibrant street with the grey of the surroundings.

Business Perils

 

Stuart Holmes's brief from APICS magazine was to illustrate an article highlighting 'The perils of outsourcing business overseas'. We think his illustrations have brought a clear and fun dimension to the issues he had to tackle such as: communication breakdowns; rising fuel costs; port authority red tape; distance travelled and product quality control.

Shepherd East Conference Video

Matthew Robson has completed a fully animated conference video for Shepherd East.

Produced for Motus.tv Matthew animated seven separate characters for a 2 minute short "(it was) a testament to how far technology has moved forward over recent years." say Matthew.

Each of the characters (apart from Bruce Forsyth) are members of the Shepherd team, with the use of many 'in jokes' and personal catch phrases, the video "got a rapturous applause when shown at the conference." Matthew says of the production "Technically, it was using some new custom modified animation software that allowed me to dial in a much more nuanced performance for each character. Add to that the fact that style wise I’m moving away from black keylines in favour of coloured ones, and towards simpler, light and colour focused backgrounds with no keyline at all, all go to make it one of the jobs I’ve had the most fun with this year." Canadian Lawyer

This piece for Canadian Lawyer In-House magazine, painted by Robert Carter illustrates an article on foreign issuers who are told to sharpen their oversight measures as Ontario Securities Commission demand more scrutiny from overseers.

Elle Girl Japan

Taking pride of place in August's ELLE girl JAPAN, is Yaeko Abe's artwork. Her fashion drawing successfully illustrates an article which talks of Japanese girls and women in their 20's and 30's, who are becoming successful in many aspects of business in Asian countries outside of Japan.

March Flair Winner

Well done Robert Carter! He wins the Creativematch March Flair Competition for illustration with this image. "Drowning In Debt" is a digitally painted illustration for a German magazine called Manager, It's about the debt crisis and how to get rid of it ('Schulden' is the German for 'Debt')'.

Hanover Square Development

Claire Rollet has been working on a promotional brochure for a prestigious Mayfair address. The commission from Winkreative Design Agency involved Claire visualising interiors and exteriors for this upmarket piece. Claire says " The prestigious Mayfair address will be home to a new landmark office, residential and retail building opening 2012. Working with Petek Sketcher at Winkreative has been a fantastic experience of professionalism and upbeat work."

The Fear Index

'The Fear Index', a book by Robert Harris has been reviewed in The Financial Times Book Review. Chris Ede's dark illustration for the article 'Money Stalks' tells the story of a hedge fund trading on fear. Chris says "Robert Harris is a very well known and great writer and it was an absolute pleasure to add my own take on his work."

Harvard Business Manager

The German magazine Harvard Business Manager commissioned Robert Carter to illustrate the cover and complete a full page illustration for their most recent issue.  Along with this well executed piece, Robert has managed to fit in a cover for  LA Times Sunday Calendar special for the 83rd Academy Awards, some promotional work for Pacifico Beer and he finished portraits of the 39 signers of the Constitutions for Quirk Book Publishers. He is an artist not put off by a heavy workload! Currently Robert is working on two more book covers for the Harvard University Press' ongoing John Harvard Library series.
