Witches Trees

http://www.illustrationweb.com/SteinarLund

Inspired by a story of witchcraft and murder, Steinar Lund produces this suitably eerie illustration. The tale, set in 1737 in a town in Wiltshire, tells of the death of 130 people and the blame given to four sisters who were subsequently accused of witchcraft. Steinar's illustration and video show the 'Witches Trees', the place where each one was buried after their murder.

Arturo Ui

Steinar Lund works with Feast Creative to produce this illustration for the play The Resistible Rise of Arturo Ui showing in London now.
After a receiving a photo of the actor Henry Goodman, Steinar set to work creating the body and cat. He says "The actual costume was sent down from Angels The Costumiers which I then modelled myself and photographer Robert Dixon took the reference shots. Robert has a nice big cat that fitted the brief, but alas he was not happy with me holding him.......in the end I used many different references to create the final 'digital' cat".

Tubular Bells

Final Cover
Final Art
Ian Naylor completes a wallet cover illustration for Prog Rock Magazine.
Commissioned by Art Editor Russell Fairbrother, the illustration was for a feature on the meeting of Mike Oldfield and Richard Branson and the subsequent success of the 'Tubular Bells' LP back in the 70's. With the album cover being so iconic, the brief was to produce a slightly modern take on the original whilst retaining it's look. Ian says "The magazine has really good production values, lovely print and very well put together with a card wallet enclosing the magazine......this is my fourth wallet cover for them and they are good fun to work for. The Tubular Bells cover was fun to do but I nearly drowned at Morecambe taking photos of the sea!"

Mega Sandwich

Steinar Lund's stomach must have rumbled when he created this 'mega sandwich' for The Mail on Sunday at the end of last month.  Used in the newspaper's 'Live Magazine', the image was to show the top fillings for sandwiches in the UK. Steinar says "I photographed all the various fillings separately, a few bread slices then compiled them in Photoshop. The client wanted an illustrated look so I went over the artwork with a digital brush to get the desired effect." Mmmmm...
