Cricket and a Cuppa

Andrew Hutchinson completes another dream job for Yorkshire Tea.
As official sponsors of the tea break at the forthcoming Ashes test matches, Yorkshire Tea decided they should produce a special edition box featuring a typical cricket ground scene.  Having worked previously on the re-launch of the iconic Yorkshire Tea packaging and being a keen cricket fan, Andrew was delighted to be asked to undertake work on this commemorative box.

Skillism, a US publisher has put together a book of Alan Baker's illustration work, an image rich tribute to Alan with his wealth of experience in the field. Alan says "A dream job really. I was asked to select/produce 40 pieces of work that I felt represented what I do as an illustrator." See the book.

Smith Journal

Sara Hingle's latest project is for the new magazine Smith Journal. Sara illustrated the cover and internal articles for the men's publication which is receiving excellent sales and feedback despite being in infant stage. Here we see the cover and exquisite portrait of Mark Twain.

Bliss

 

'Bliss', a magical novel for girls has been illustrated by Steinar Lund recently for HarperCollins. Due to be released in March, and the first in a trilogy, Steinar has created his own piece of sweet imagery, sure to attract all girls' taste buds! The story follows Rosemary Bliss, a girl who has turned ten and seen her mother fold a lightning bolt into a bowl of batter. She realises then, that her parents make magic in the Bliss Bakery.

Take a look at this small selection of Daniel O'Leary's super portraits of some interesting figures, both in US and Middle East politics. He says of his paintings: "...The image of the nurse is of Nancy Pelosi (American Political figure), the second one is the president of Iran in a compromising position, betraying his statements that there are no homosexuals in his country and the third shows American political figure Sarah Palin, known for being .....less than a genius..."

Resources of Autism

Derek Bacon has had a print of one of his pictures auctioned recently, along with works donated by Peter Blake, Anish Kapoor and Mary McCartney.  Derek was asked by the charity "Resources for Autism" if he would participate in their art exchange, which he did! The Apple Book

It's part of her latest project entitled "The Apple Book", published by Frances Lincoln and out now. This charming book contains 144 gorgeous watercolours of apples, from Cox’s Orange Pippin to Peasgood Nonsuch, combined with a practical essay by the Royal Horticultural Society’s fruit officer Harry Baker. John Harvard Library

This commanding illustration is the result of an ongoing project by the very talented Robert Carter.

Commissioned by the Harvard University Press’s continuing John Harvard Library, they are re-issuing newly designed editions of the series which was first published in the 60's and 70's. It is a collection of important documents in American history as well as the writings of significant figures. So far Robert has completed 15 portraits with about 35 still to do.
