The Edible Garden Show

An illustrator with a passion for his allotment aswell as the art he creates, Greg Becker is excited about appearing at The Edible Garden Show at Stoneleigh Park, Warwickshire next week.  Greg will be signing his Allotment books at the 3 day event which starts on 15th March and is 'the only national event dedicated to growing your own fruit, vegetables and home produce'. Greg's book signing slot is at 1pm on the first day, and he is hopeful he willl meet a few gardening celebrities! These images are from 'Wheelbarrow & Chips' recipes from the wild allotment.

Sporting Feats

Greg Becker's second self published book 'Sporting Feats' is full of humourous 'observations of Edwardian sporting endeavours'. The drawings are based on a series of greeting cards, preview the book here.

This delight to the senses has come from the hands of Greg Becker. He has created a juicy cover illustration with Bridge Point Educational in the US for a book due out this August.

An Illustrated Allotment Alphabet

'An Illustrated Allotment Alphabet' based on Greg Becker's blog drawings is available now as a fantastic book. Greg's original plot 52 blog, which is ' A personal visual record of the triumphs and trials of a vegetable gardener. Detailing the ongoing struggles with pests, the weather, low flying golf balls, and a fear of deep digging.' has been the inspiration behind this latest publication, and one that is begging to be on a coffee table. The book is purchasable from blurb.co.uk, an online bookstore as an ebook or printed version.

Allotment Alphabet

Greg Becker's Allotment blog has spread it's roots and growing well. He is now working on an allotment alphabet, which he says is an "idea (which) came via various stages through the gardening blogosphere". With humour at it's core, this has added another dimension to his gardening diary. Take a look.

Greg Becker in the Dulwich Festival

Greg Becker will be showing paintings of apples from his allotment and also some artwork from the plot52 blog in the 2011 Dulwich festival. The 'artist's open house' will be on show on may 7-8th and 14-15, open 11am - 6pm at 285 Upland Road, East Dulwich,  London, SE22 0DN.

Pumpkin Planet

Greg Becker has illustrated this visually stunning book "Pumpkin Planet", not only that, he can add another feather to his cap as he is also the author! "Pumpkin Planet" is a beautifully told story about a planet where everything is made entirely of pumpkins, and living on it are the Pumpkin People, who help a troubled planet Earth reconnect with nature. He has created a blog which is intended to chart the development of the book and attract feedback from as many directions as possible

Plot 52

Greg Becker has now been a full time illustrator for over 20 years since leaving the RCA. Whilst this fact may make him feel old (!), he has built up a huge body of artworks both as an Illustrator and Painter for many and varied clients. Probably best known for the children’s books he’s illustrated, Greg has now written his own book; an illustrated diary of life on his allotment. Greg says about the project; ‘PLOT 52 is a gently humorous and slightly quirky record of events and encounters taking place on my allotment, mainly concerning the difficulties of growing your own veg, fighting against the forces of nature and dealing with tools with a mind of their own.’ The project is still in motion but is sure to find a publisher soon. Greg’s colourful crayon illustrations will make it a great gift book.

Something for Charity

Greg Becker has taken part in an online auction of hand painted postcards for the charity CARE. With proceeds mainly for the Asian tsunami victims, Greg was in fine company with artists like Tracy Emin and Damien Hirst. His card; similar to the image opposite sold for a fine price.

Becker At The Cinderella Ball

With the US publishers Macmillan needing an illustrator for a new range of cards, Kira Robbins at Miro Design found just the man in Greg Becker. The theme of the cards was the Cinderella Ball, and Greg Becker's endearing style lends itself perfectly to these scenes of 18th century jumping and jiving! The obvious joy with which Greg works certainly shines through here. As Greg said himself: "...I had a real ball doing it - and I’ve always liked pumpkins!"

The Answer Is Simple

Currently head-down in production is Greg Becker and these fun illustrations for Hay House Publishing.

Commissioned by Charles Mcstavick, the 64 cards comprise a set entitled: "The Answer is Simple". Each card illustrates a simple quote ('Drop It' is the example shown here). Among the 63 other illustrations to follow are such enticing titles as: 'Take a Breather', 'Be Patient', 'Seek an Expert', 'Share Your Gifts', 'Take no Offence' and 'Get Over Yourself'. The Captain's Log

Greg Becker is behind these superb drawings for a new book called "The Log of The Nautilus".

Commissioned by Jess Stamp at Cowley Robinson, the book details the travels of Captain Nemo in his submarine, The Nautilus: "a fascinating record of a remarkable man, an extraordinary ship and an epic and ultimately tragic voyage." The illustration here shows the route that the Nautilus took.

Being Human

What exactly does it mean to be human? Well, it's a loaded question alright, and one which Greg Becker tackles beautifully for Nature Magazine.

Commissioned by Nature's Barbara Izdebska, Greg's eight illustrations appear alongside a series of essays that cover those defining human themes of love, language, conflict, religion and migration.

Becker's Private Project

Hush, hush everyone, you didn't hear this from us!  Greg Becker recently completed a private and rather unusual commission from a couple wishing to commemorate their relationship. It was a very secretive project which involved illustrating a book of poems. Greg's dreamy and enchanting style is perfect for such a romantic gesture.
