Mail Me Art
Vicky Scott's nature inspired female has been included in the Mail Me Art book and exhibition. Artists were invited to create a design on an envelope and to pop it in the post. Vicky says " All those that arrived safely have been included in the exhibition and the original envelope artworks will be on sale to the public with all proceeds going to charity." A great idea!

Ben Tallon works with CALM and launches transmedia awareness campaign Xpress
No stranger to working with some major charities, Ben Tallon uses his skills as illustrator and art director to launch Xpress; an awareness campaign to raise money for the The Campaign Against Living Miserably.
CALM works to prevent male suicide in the UK, and after meeting the charity, Ben was given a blank canvas to direct a campaign focused on raising money and awareness. His response has come from an urge to share the benefits of his own artistic expression, and so along with the support of his fellow creatives, Ben has launched Xpress.
On May 3rd 2013, Ben's company Quenched Music will release an exclusive album from which 100% of proceeds will go directly to the charity. It will feature the best of new UK and international music and some overseas 'heavyweights' who will be announced soon. Also featuring men working in the arts, Ben and the team now have the support of Stephen Merchant, Danny Dyer, Jon McClure and more. In addition, a campaign newspaper will be released alongside the album containing all interviews and features including the portrait above. It was created to support an exclusive interview with Steve for the campaign in which he discusses comedy, growing up, art and his movie career. The Xpress website will also showcase contemporary art, design, comedy, illustration, film and poetry.
Please support the cause through the crowdfunding campaign here.

SPLC
Ruth Rowland creates a typographic card for the Southern Poverty Law Center.
SPLC is a nonprofit civil rights organization dedicated to fighting hate and bigotry, and to seeking justice for the most vulnerable members of society. Ruth was asked to illustrate a card to be sent out to donors as a sign of SPLC's appreciation using a quote that fits with their message of justice and tolerance. Ruth has produced a purely typographic solution with this Anatole France quote, 'aiming to give the words the right tone and emphasis'. She says "I've worked for the design team at SPLC on several occasions so it was a pleasure to be asked to work on this holiday card. They have, by all accounts, a very impressive donor list which (despite my efforts!) they're not allowed to disclose!"

Workbook Creative Carnival
The
USA Illustration office had a fun adventure in NYC at the end of last year.
Taking part in the Workbook Annual Creative Carnival, the talented
Yaeko Abe showed her skills in the live drawing portion of the evening. Not only was it
great fun to see the costumes modelled by live models, but all of the drawings were auctioned off for charity at the end of the
night. A super time was had by all! More information on the event.

Blow for GOSH
GOSH say of the commission:
“Radley
Yeldar have been a dream company to work with. The brief we gave them was
no easy task: to bring to life a portfolio of medical research stretching back
through several decades of Great Ormond Street Hospital’s history, in a way
that was visually arresting but didn’t scream “science”. We really threw
the book at them, but they grasped tricky concepts quickly and dealt with them
sensitively, working closely with us at every stage of an intensely creative
process.
The end product – an A to Z of some of our most impressive research achievements – delicately balanced strong and emotive narrative alongside genuinely arresting (and intriguing!) visual concepts. The life-sized flashcards they produced were the talk of our flagship Bringing Research to Life event. Each one delivered a simple but powerful story, with the full 26 working together beautifully to reinforce our core message: that research changes children’s lives. They’ve given us a whole new language with which to speak about the vital work we’re funding. We’re incredibly grateful for their support.”
