The World in Your Kitchen

New Internationalist have commissioned Jonathan Allardyce to produce 12 artworks for the 2013 'World In your Kitchen' calendar. Every month suggests a favourite vegetarian recipe with delightful illustrations of the dish or the place from which it comes. Proceeds from the calendar go to a number of charities including Amnesty International, Traidcraft, CAFOD, SCIAF and Christian Aid. The calendar is still available here.

Music Tribes

Commissioned for a set of 10 characters, Jonathan Allardyce has come up trumps with these amusingly believable figures for Q Magazine. Music Tribes, an article written by Rebecca Nicholson of the Guardian, gives us an accurate insight to several types of character based on their musical taste. Jonathan has used his great understanding of people to illustrate these types, he says "...the text is laugh-out-loud accurate and a joy to work with so I was determined to do a good job..." Here we have clockwise from top left; Mod Dad, Bro-Stepper, Earnest Pitchforker and Little Monster.

ES Predictions

Jonathan Allardyce creates a futuristic set of images for ES magazine.

Who knows what jobs will be out there for our grandchildren and beyond, Jonathan’s illustrative predictions are a good example. Using the line “Predictions about the future always tell you most about the time they were made in,” as a start, with a text written by Richard Godwin, Jonathan has put The Vertical Farmer, The AI guy and the Trans-Olympic athlete into reality.

Hemingway and Gellhorn

Embellishing the cover of January's San Francisco magazine is Jonathan Allardyce's illustration of writer and director Philip Kaufmen on set.

Jonathan's style which simply makes a busy scene easy on the eye, was commissioned to illustrate the rumour that San Francisco based Philip Kaufman will be directing a HBO film about Ernest Hemingway and his relationship with Martha Gellhorn. Entitled Hemingway and Gellhorn it will apparently star Clive Owen and Nicole Kidman.

Exploitation Awareness

The talented Jonathan Allardyce is behind these 70 new illustrations for Barnardo's. The images feature in an information pack that teachers, social workers and counsellors are using to help educate young people about sexual exploitation.

Lucy Kork at Barnardo's SEone Service commissioned Jonathan to create the illustrations for its Bwise2 Sexual Exploitation campaign which ultimately aims to help teenagers develop strategies for prevention.

Among The Select Few

Congratulations to Jonathan Allardyce who has landed a well-deserved place in the American Illustration 27.

Of the 7,500 images submitted, Jonathan's was among the mere 294 images chosen, which earns him a permanent presence on the American Illustration website. The image itself originally graced the cover of 'Scotland's Books – a History of Scottish Literature', and features a group of seven Scottish writers past and present – all brought to life with Jonathan's fantastic touch.

Another Monkey For Your Back

Bringing the ancient art of whisky-drinking into the modern era is Jonathan Allardyce and these character illustrations for Monkey Shoulder, a triple malt Scotch whisky aimed at a new generation of drinkers.

Commissioned by William Grant & Sons, Jonathan's brief was to help build a new identity for Monkey Shoulder and challenge more traditional perceptions of the whisky drinker. The artworks appear on point-of sale display items and an information folder for bartenders.

Happy Birthday Charlie

Marking the 200th anniversary of the birth of Charles Darwin in enigmatic style is Jonathan Allardyce and this masterly piece for Nature Magazine.

Says Jonathan: "Darwin is arguably the most influential scientist of modern times (in ways that he himself would never have imagined). No single researcher since has matched his collective impact on science, politics, religion and philosophy."

The Pact Between Men
