Great Wall Of Comedy
![]() |
| on the 'tube' |
Working with Red Bee Media, Emma Rios produces art for the promotion of Jo Brand's new comedy TV Show.
'Great Wall of Comedy' airing on the Gold channel from next week is all about sitcom classics; such as Faulty Towers and Only Fools & Horses. Emma was asked to create a wall of TV's which are currently being used in the promotional posters. Emma says " I love old vintage TV's
so illustrated these. The photos of Jo & Co. where taken separately so I had
to make it work as one piece. (I) love
going past the billboards on the tube!"

Simple Minds
Ruth Rowland successfully uses her skills on this promotion for the Simple Minds upcoming tour.
She says "This three dimensional bust was created for the Simple Minds' The Greatest Hits Tour this April. I was commissioned to develop the lettering, working with a range of different marker pens, then scanning and fitting the script to a photo of the head. It was built up gradually until the final image was approved. It's surprisingly tricky to keep the lettering looking raw and not overworked - this vernacular lettering is influenced more by Outsider Art and hand drawn ephemeral signage than by traditional calligraphy. The designer sent over images of the scrawled graffiti on Jim Morrison's grave and the Abbey Road sign as the inspiration for the piece - the fumes from the markers probably helped a little too....
there are also plans to use it on the related album which has yet to be released."

Thanksgiving Raffle
Tyson Mangelsdorf has created this art for the Oregon Lottery currently being used as a Thanksgiving promotion. The campaign, well and truly launched can be seen all over Oregon. Tyson says "The most challenging part of this project was getting the composition just right. The design had to accommodate the text and logo placement as well as capturing the relative scale of the turkey, sign and hunter in a way that seemed fairly natural. Working through these elements resulted in several sketches that capture the evolution of this project."
Happy Thanksgiving!
