ALVARADO GALLERY INVITES YOU TO - PAIN AT THE DENTIST CONTEMPORARY ART EXHIBITION PRIVATE VIEW THURSDAY 19TH APRIL (6 - 9PM) Nick Whites, You think you've had it bad, 2012 SHOW INFO Inspired by Ovid's quote, 'Be patient and be strong; for someday this pain will be useful to you', the exhibition, entitled 'Pain at the Dentists', explores our relationship with the endurance of pain. In today's society, we are encouraged to ignore and even anesthetize pain, which often can have detrimental effects later on. However, beauty and growth can sometimes be born out of the most painful experiences, something this show captures. GALLERY INFO Launching in April 2012, Alvarado Gallery is an artistic outlet that bridges the gap between artists and illustrators and the domestic art collector. The gallery is set to have a series of themed temporary shows across London, before residing in a yet to be disclosed, fixed residence. The gallery is born out of the need to offer a professional platform for emerging and well-known artists to develop and show their work in an accessible format for the viewer in a relatively affordable price range. The gallery will create a playful environment of artistic expression, exploration and development. It will also give visitors the chance to see some of the most important new work being created today.

Working with MC Saatchi GAD in Paris for Suez Environment, Sam Bevington has completed this ad to illustrate water challenges. Sam says "...there were about 29 versions I sent through as the project progressed, I decided to throw together a little video to show it building up step by step..." See the video:

Sam's Words

These two pieces are from Sam Bevington's ongoing personal project experimenting with hand drawn type.The text is cleverly designed by Sam, with no fonts involved. Sam says "The words themselves are from a couple of northern soul classics: 'Come on Train' by Don Thomas and 'Messin with the Kid' by Junior Wells.

We love new talent and have found lots of the stuff oozing from Sam Bevington.
New to our books, Sam's work takes much from the graphics of the 1930's to 50's era. He loves poster design and custom typography and clients so far include 3 Mobile and the NHS. Sam says: "In my spare time I like to print posters in my screen printing studio at home. I have an unhealthy obsession with hand painted signs, DIY and bad screenprinting."
