Gail Armstrong creates two book cover illustrations for Llewellyn Worldwide.

'Mama Gets Trashed' and 'Mama Does Time' by Deborah Sharp are part of the Mace Bauer Mystery series; stories based in Florida involving biologist Mace and his mother who stumble upon murder victims and then feel compelled to investigate. The brief was to make artwork that reflected the humour in the books whilst feeling 'light, fun and colourful' to evoke the Florida warmth. Gail says "... I worked with a palette that seemed to reflect Florida colours and created the front cover image that illustrates a key event in each of the books. The type and background repeat pattern work to tie the books together visually. There is also a smaller, related image for use on the spine and back of each of the books."

A Cambridge Companion

 

John Holder creates many beautiful drawings for 'An Armchair Traveller's History of Cambridge'.
Living and working in the city itself whilst being one of the best contemporary reportage illustrators, makes John the perfect artist for this job. Full with on the spot drawings, this book, written by Richard Tames is out now and follows the launch of John Holder's celebration of mark making; G.O.D. - Good Old Drawing at the Cartoon Museum in London and in Cambridge.

Haunted

Rohan Eason's fine style lends itself perfectly to the mysterious. And here we see his recent book jacket for Oxford University Press; William Hussey's 'Haunted' demonstrating Rohan's brilliance with this genre so well. A childrens book complete with ghosts and a derelict house, the book is out now.

The Fabulous Colouring Book

This attractive cover designed to catch the eye of any child is by Hannah Davies. This lovely book jacket by Madamesange is a for a debut novel by Melanie Gideon. The book, set to be published in June by HarperCollins is "about a woman amidst a midlife crisis who agrees to anonymously participate in a survey about marital happiness",  Madamesange's delicate lines frame the organic lettering resulting in a sophisticated cover.
