Ruth Rowland works on the lettering for the limited edition Fourth Doctor Time Capsule for the BBC.
This luxury product aimed at the dedicated fan, celebrates Tom Baker and the 50th Anniversary of the Dr Who TV series, with a limited run of 5,000. Ruth Says "The box itself is designed to look like a Gallifreyan artefact and with this in mind, I was asked to create both English and Gallifreyan lettering for the DVD covers. This involved some very enjoyable research, looking at stills from old Doctor Who episodes and discussing the appropriate feel and layout of the two different alphabets with the art director. Once printed the title had the added bonus of only being legible once seen through the coloured disc provided." (Watch the video). The box set is 'lovingly put together' and full of Tom Baker goodies.

Food for the Little Printer

Lauren Mortimer has been commissioned by BBC GoodFood to illustrate 52 food items.

Designed to be printed from your smartphone using the Little Printer and showing customers which foods are in season, the illustrations spanning a year can be gathered 'to create a timely, beautiful miniature newspaper.' Because of the thermal nature of the Little Printer, Lauren's drawings had to be black and white resulting in small detailed gems of line.

The BBC Goes Colour With Christopher

Christopher Corr is halfway through a delightful set of illustrations for the BBC's No 1 Ladies Detective Agency. Working with Paul Hocking at BBC Audio Books, Christopher's task has been to interpret "the really expressive story-telling" heard on the CDs in his own vividly colourful way. The first two audio books are out this month.
