Christopher Corr exhibits his latest 'fish themed' paintings at Kensington Place.
This show at the Notting Hill restaurant 'features fish from the seven seas', referencing his time spent in Marseille and other world travels. The joyful nature of his work in this setting will be a feast for the eyes and the belly!
The artworks are hanging from today until January 2014.

Illustrator's Notebook

Christopher Corr is featured in the Summer 2013 edition of Illustration Magazine talking of the importance of his sketchbooks.  As an artist whose work is so influenced by all around him, the sketchbook remains an integral part of his illustration process.

Christopher says in the article "I’ve been using sketchbooks since I was an art student. I keep some for working out ideas for projects and I use others purely for making location drawings and paintings and observations. I don’t mix them up.
A sketchbook is so personal: I write down conversations I overhear, graffiti I see and like, headlines from newspapers I notice as I’m drawing, in fact anything that strikes me as important or noteworthy when I’m out and about. On location I’m selective about what I include in my picture making. I am not a camera and so I draw the things I like or dislike, anything I can use later on to recreate that scene.
I work in books of all sizes, some very tiny and others huge. On a trip to China I bought some concertina-type sketchbooks and I used these to paint long panoramic scenes. I bought some beautiful books in India that I’ve used as sketchbooks, red and quilted-cloth covered, tied up with a string. They are made for debt and rent collectors so they can raise eyebrows when you take one from your bag.
You can do whatever you like in a sketchbook. You have total freedom. You make the rules. You can experiment and try out new ideas and work with new and different materials.
I always carry at least one sketchbook in my bag or pocket. They are so useful when you have time on your hands or when you see something remarkable. Artists have been using them for hundreds of years and I like that sense of continuity. It’s an unconscious record  of your thoughts and feelings.
I moved recently into the City of London and I have been drawing my new neighbourhood in a big black book. I want big paper to note down the new skyline and tall structures around me. Skyscrapers need space to be seen."

Loving

Christopher Corr's vibrant painterly illustrations make 'Loving' by Henry Green a must for the book shelf. Published by The Folio Society, the story is set in Ireland during World War II and describes 'life above and below the stairs in Kinalty Castle'. Bound in cloth, the cover also adorns a design by Christopher; a book that's a treat for the mind and the eyes!

Ten of our illustrators were asked by Saatchi and Saatchi to take part in a fantastic subway exhibition in China. Called "Fresh Beginning for Love" the artworks, used large scale are on tour in Beijing, Shanghai and Guangzhou right now with the aim of 'turning common subway stations into colourful art galleries.'

Nippon Paint invited a total of 32 artists and illustrators from around the world to use their environmentally friendly paints to create the 'love' images. Now, the stations are inspiring 'visual feasts' for commuters.

The Global Times says of the event "After touring the three cities, the 32 artworks will be sold at a charity bazaar at the end of this year. All the funds will be used for "Color, Way of Love," the charity platform of Nippon Paint China for Hope Project Schools, and to improve the teaching environment as well as art education.
Nippon Paint hopes that this philanthropic subway exhibition will inspire people who love beauty to look at their surroundings with fresh eyes and to fill their lives with color."

Water for Hillingdon Hospital

Christopher Corr has created 10 prints on the theme of water for Hillingdon Hospital. Commissioned by The Nightingale Trust (who are based at the Chelsea and Westminster Hospital), the series of images were to be abstract and in various blues to hang in a men's health unit.

The Goggle-Eyed Goats

Published on March 1st, Christopher Corr is excited about the launch of 'The Goggle-Eyed Goats'; a childrens' book he has illustrated for Andersen Press. Gallimard Jeunesse in Paris are also publishing the book on the same day, which just happens to be World Book Day. Christopher says "It's my first book with both houses. The story is set in Mali in Timbuktu and Mopti and is full of goats and mud mosques and desert scenes." The 'wonderfully vibrant and unusual picture book' will be launched at the Rowley Gallery in Notting Hill on March 1st.

Lonely Planet Kid's Guides

Christopher Corr's book covers for Lonely Planet, just published, are a treat for any adventurous kid. Covering London, New York, Paris and Rome, and strictly not for parents, Christopher's enthralling illustrations are a successful book opener. In shops now.

Family Mosaic

Over the summer Christopher Corr put his talents to creating this Family Mosaic Annual Accounts brochure. Just out in print,  this is a glorious celebration of Chris's colour, style and composition. He says of the job "FM are a London & South East housing association, very progressive and go-ahead. I like them."

Busy Busy Corr

Christopher Corr continues to be the successful and talented creature who has influenced the Illustration world for so many years. Such beautiful artworks which sit like a dream in magazines, books, on food packets and our walls, express his passion for creativity. He is currently working on a book for Saks Fifth Avenue, September also brings an exhibition of his work in Lorgues, Provence.

Corr on Sak's 5th Avenue

The windows of Sak's 5th Avenue, New York are filled with wonderful art. ‘Cashmere If You Can’; a book illustrated by Christopher Corr and commissioned by Terron Schaefer, the Vice President at Sak's, brings the passer by to a halt with a gallery of illustration. Cashmere goat cut-outs join enormous images from the book, what better way to see it!

Chris Corr Hits Brighton

Currently on exhibition in Brighton, is a collection of paintings by the wonderful Christopher Corr. Entitled simply: "Paintings on Paper" the exhibition title belies the true energy and colour with which Christopher paints, and which has become his trademark style over the years. Shining through in his work, is Chris’ obvious love of travel which has provided much inspiration for his work, as well as some interesting commissions: the Royal Mail sent him to Bosnia to paint the Peace-Keeping troops for a commemorative stamp in the Millennium Stamps Project. Whether he is painting a bustling city scene, or the exotic outdoors, Chris always manages to bring out a striking warmth and affection to his pictures. The exhibition runs from 8th July to 6th August at Castor & Pollux in Brighton (tel: +44 (0)1273 773776), and we heartily recommend it.

Corr Counts Down To Christmas

Selling appropriately well for this time of year is Christopher Corr's new Advent Calendar design for The Divine Chocolate Company. The designer; Kathryn Samson commissioned Christopher to let his cheery colours loose on this aerial scene of nighttime Bethlehem.

Corr Shows Us India

'Indian Tales' is the title of Chris Corr's dazzling new children's book for Barefoot Books in the US.

Commissioned by Kim Mooney, the ten stories featured are taken from different regions of the country, and combine illustrated folk tales alongside illustrations of stories from the Ramayana.

Rotary Corr Animation

Chris Corr has just completed a worthy animation project for Rotary, the US charity foundation whose focus is bringing clean water to the Third world.

Chris worked closely with animation studio Sherbet on the

project: "I did lots of still pictures and Sherbet had a team of very clever people who animated them. It's great to see your pictures move".

Corr's Centenary Book

Helping celebrate the centenary year of French author and philosopher Simone de Beauvoir is Christopher Corr and this illustration for her celebrated title "The Mandarins"

The Folio Society's Sheri Gee commissioned Christopher to create the illustrations which complement the novel's hopeful tale of Parisian 1940's intellectuals. This is Christopher's first book for the Folio Society.

Cityscapes on Show

UN Stamp

Snoopy Revamped

Snoopy, one of our most beloved comicbook dogs has had a fabulous make over by the celebrated illustrator Christopher Corr.

Chris was invited to participate alongside other artists, illustrators and designers to individually decorate a Snoopy in celebration of the dog's 60th anniversary. These resulting designs were exhibited in Hong Kong before being auctioned off for charity.
