Blackbear the Pirate

Ruth Palmer has completed some very pleasant covers and spreads for Blackbear the Pirate.  Commissioned by the author Steve Buckley, Ruth is now working on her third book in the series. The books follow a pirate bear and crew who are 'named after actual pirates from what historians call the Golden Age of Piracy' with Blackbear based on the famous Blackbeard. Ruth's warm painterly illustrations give the books a traditional classic feel.

Café Nero Posters

Just launched are four posters created by Ruth Palmer for Café Nero.

Ruth was asked to make her paintings look like a mural behind the product photo for that real in situ Mediterranean feel. Peter Blake at Together Design then had the images retouched  to give the impression of old cracked walls. The posters will be in the cafes throughout the summer.

Ancient Everyday Egypt

These mammoth illustrations for the Museum Of Liverpool are the distinctive work of Ruth Palmer.

Commissioned by Bill Watson at the museum, the brief was to create background illustrations of typical Ancient Egyptian scenes for the museum's new Ancient Egyptian Gallery, the largest of which measures an impressive 4ft wide. The exhibition opened earlier this month.
