Animated Radiohead Hopeful

Hoping for the modest $10,000 top prize is Bill Greenhead and this poignant animation for Radiohead's latest video competition.

Already a huge fan of the group, Bill leapt at the chance to animate their song 'Faust Arp'. Using a previous illustration called 'Falling' as the basis, Bill expanded the idea into a full song-length animation. "I just hope I did the song some justice." Says Bill. We certainly think so.

Never Trust a Hippy

Paul Holland is among the 100 artists, photographers and designers contributing these customized 50cm high plastic figurines (known as "Qees") for the children's charity Paris Tout P'tits.

Entitled "Never Trust a Hippy", Paul's creation kidnaps the ideas of "flower power"and "summer of love" in order to beg the question: "Where'd all the LOVE go?" The entire collection of figures is being auctioned at the Christie's auction house (France) this month.

Reaching Boiling Point

Literally boiling over with quality is Chris Ede and this terrific cover illustration for Leadership Focus Magazine.

Fiona Duthie at Redactive Publishing commissioned Chris to create front cover and editorial pieces that would illustrate the pressure and strain head teachers commonly find themselves under. Notice the word "STRESS" cleverly written within the brain itself.

Paperwear

Masha Karpushina is behind this intriguing project to create a garment made entirely from illustrated paper. Currently featuring on the online fashion journal, fashion156.com, Masha took her inspiration from the upcoming autumn/winter menswear designs, and intends to auction the piece for the charity SOS Children in Russia.

In With The Decemberists

Entering a poster competition for one of your favourite bands, and having them choose you as winner must be quite a buzz.

So it is for Kathryn Rathke whose poster for the Decemberists is everywhere right now at the Southwest Music festival in Austin Texas. The design incorporates a portrait of Ladybird Johnson (former president Lyndon Johnson's wife) who originates from the Austin area, Lyndon's face meanwhile appears on the child.

Pocket Notebook

The brilliant Willie Ryan completed this bold illustration for the front cover of Mike Thomas's much anticipated book "Pocket Notebook"
Commissioned by Random House and due to be launched in early February the book is expected to fly off the shelves. Willie created a homage to the Anthony Burgess Clockwork Orange Cover which resulted in this eye catching image.

Wine Buffs

Maria Livings completed these stylish images for the Wine Society, where they will soon be splashed across the pages of their magazine and wine list.
The brief was to illustrate various aspects of the Sustainable Viticulture, Maria explains "The brief was very specific because wine buffs would probably notice if I'd included the wrong kind of creature or plant! It was a challenge to make some of the subjects decorative - a hedge for instance presented difficulties until I drew a leaping leveret in front of it."
