Sixto Rodriguez

 

Hannah Megee creates a portrait of Sixto Rodriguez in her classic haunting style.
Commissioned by the music newspaper Deluxe, the piece was to illustrate the iconic musician and star of 'Searching For Sugarman' to celebrate International Record Store Day. Hannah says "As there are limited photographs of Rodriguez in the public domain, I was asked to create an image that was original, yet encompassed his personality and charm."

People's Promenade Paving

Hannah Megee has been commissioned by Broadbent Studio and Wyre Borough Council to design a paving slab to sit at the base of a new sculpture on Cleveleys' award-winning 'People's Promenade'. The resulting piece has images and text inspired by 'The Sea Swallow', a children's book illustrated by Hannah last year in association with the same project. She says "The images also show a granite relief of another of my book illustrations depicting two sea swallows in flight."

Lux Harmonium 7'' Single

This fine drawing created by Hannah Megee is for Lux Harmonium's recent 7" single. The Bones You Break / Camel Bones came out a couple of weeks ago on the Static Caravan label. Hannah says " I decided to use the image of the donkey for two reasons; firstly, it was play on words as both songs have the word 'bones' in the title, so a little reference to the saying 'the straw that broke the donkey's back'. The second reason is that Luke Jones, the talent behind Lux Harmonium, often reminds me of a sad donkey." The image was produced in pencil and then lightly coloured in Photoshop.

We are delighted to now represent the very skilful Hannah Megee.
Based in Devon, UK, Hannah's mysterious, intriguing illustrations are full of narrative and occasional humour with a traditional edge, her gorgeously subtle tones take one back to a time in the past.  She has worked for Litfest Publications, Drift Records and Lux Harmonium among others and has recently completed "The Sea Swallow"  which was released last week.  Hannah says: "..The book was part of a council funded project to encourage more interest and tourism to the coastline around Fleetwood and Cleveleys just north of Blackpool, UK. I won a national competition to illustrate it, and have been working closely with both the writer Gareth Thompson, and the public artist Stephen Broadbent."
