High Flying Bird

The amazing paper skills of Gail Armstrong are given full reign in these illustrations for National Geographic Educational Books.
Using visual references from ancient greek designs, and with the assistance of photographer Jonny Thompson, Gail's task was to reinterpret the Greek myth of Icarus and Daedalus. Commissioned by Stephanie Rice at National Geographic, Gail's creations cleverly use a variety of papers for the wings to give the impression that the feathers have originated from many different birds.
