Gail Armstrong The Paper Sculptress
Some artforms always command respect and Gail Armstrong's paper sculpturing does just that. Her sculpture style is very 3 dimensional, often with dramatic perspectives, especially pieces involving architecture. Her sculptures develop from drawings, and she takes inspiration from a number of sources: from the texture of certain paper, to illuminated manuscripts, as well as from the work of Erte, Pugin and Tamara De Lempicka. Gail started illustrating seriously in 1997 after working for a design consultancy, and is currently combining all her strengths on a children's book. Shown here is one of a series made to illustrate ‘the threat of paperwork’ commissioned by Bernard Hodes Advertising.
